It’s not the end of the world but the talent show American Idol which clearly has been about the judges for years will finally cease to exist. American Idol is officially being canceled after season 15 and has made about two stars to date – in all of it’s 15 seasons. Those two stars namely being Adam Lambert and Kelly Clarkson who would go on to have successful sustainable solo careers years after appearing on American Idol.
With the failing ratings and interest being consistently about Jennifer Lopez every time someone talks about the show…that is NOT how you promote such a staple juggernaut in society. The promotional aspect has been a train wreck for years and the marketing team responsible for it should never be employed anywhere else, ever again.
Since the actual singing talent aren’t being made to be the center of attention, the show essentially revolves around what hairstyle and dress Jennifer Lopez will be wearing this week. It’s obviously clear what and who the entire show was build around for the past several years.
The assumption flowing around is that Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj are soly responsible for the demise of American Idol. That excuse is being used as an escape goat for the real reason. Stop building talent shows around the judges and maybe they’ll still be on the air years from now.
It is not that hard to focus on making actual stars and sticking to heavy promotion of the season winner with their first album release. Now American Idol is canceled and deserves to be. The judges just use the show for a pay packet and couldn’t care less…either way there are plenty of other shows that can take over the time slot. No real loss!
