Brutal Doom Review. A 5-year remake of the original Doom franchise!
The game is a mod A.K.A. a modification of an original game and finally got released back in 2015. It’s been a long journey but the results are astounding.
Brutal Doom takes the mechanics from Call of Duty and the Gears of War series and updates a near 30-year-old game. As they say ‘Everything in Brutal Doom is extremely intense’. You can move between 1st and 3rd person views and the sound effects have been specifically added to the mod; including lots of swearing, like you wouldn’t believe.
I believe the toilets and trash cans from ‘Duke Nukem 64’ have been inserted into Brutal Doom. The look is uncanny.
If you didn’t know by now, Brutal Doom features an exciting online multiplayer experience on a special server you can download for free alongside the Doom mod single player experience. There is even an online chat room that accompanies the server with people all over the world chatting about Brutal Doom!
Brutal Doom is a free download, available online for anyone who enjoys a good shoot them up!
For a review, Brutal Doom is a beacon of hope for how mods or re-masters, as they like to call them for re-releasing older generation games. Remakes should be made with the passion and care that Brutal Doom received. You’d be shocked but the official game studio had nothing to do with the mod. Now that speaks volumes.
The latest Doom is titled ‘Doom’ and is available on PC, PS4 and Xbox one. So maybe one day we’ll get a decent Doom movie, but I don’t hold my breath on video game licenses receiving love with a half decent movie release.
