Music streaming service Tidal looks to be going south as news has leaked that Jay-Z has sold his 33% stake in Tidal. Mobile company Sprint has reportedly spent 200 million on the 33% stake Jay-Z has sold.
Tindal doesn’t really get a lot of publicity even though some of the biggest artists in the world appeared at the launch party such as Madonna and Rihanna. Beyoncé has been sitting in the back and seeing how things unfold. There have been rumors of Beyoncé working on new material.
Every time Beyoncé releases an album, Tidal usually get exclusive access to it. Same happened with the Beyoncé and Nicky Minaj music video, a few years ago.
It’s interesting to see where the music streaming service Tidal can go from here. There is almost no press about the music streaming service and if there is…it’s usually negative.
So based on the information at hand that Jay-Z sold his 33% for a reported 200 million, it doesn’t look good for Tidal unless Sprint have other plans to help grow the service into a juggernaut. Since the service has been around for a few years, that doesn’t even look highly likely at this point in time.
