The BBC have gone down a dark path and banned Madonna from BBC Radio 1. This is the same cooperation who have been involved in hundreds of scandals throughout the years down to allegedly knowing about paedophile Jimmy Savile for years…who is said to have raped and abused over 500 innocent people.
The mega hit machine Madonna has been spitting out charts for decades and always been on top of the pop landscape. Madonna is too much of a threat to other younger artists played. Therefore BBC Radio 1 has Madonna banned simply for being “irrelevant and old” in their eyes.
The first single from Madonna ‘Living For Love’ has only ever been played once on Radio 1 on January 9th 2015 and then vanished from existence on the “audience relevance / musical merit”. This is just pathetic considering the same radio show is known for playing the same 5 songs all day and every day. After all that’s how they get the singers onto the radio chat segments in the first place.
On the contrary a 72 year old senior citizen named Sir Paul McCartney will have his new song with Rihanna and Kanye West played on Radio 1 called ‘FourFiveSeconds’. So BBC Radio 1 clearly has some double standards and prefer to play older male singers, rather than older female singers like Madonna and Kate Bush.
The new single will still be played on mature station BBC Radio 2, although it has a much smaller listener base and isn’t that popular compared to Radio 1. If people boycott Radio 1…then we might be able to set an example for banning older artists.
