Streaming giant Netflix is set to hike prices in the coming months for its entire customer base. The price increase for the standard HD package will sore from 6.99 to 7.50 per month.
The 50p increase is not pleasing anyone considering it is the same old content with the additional show added after it has been broadcast on TV months beforehand. Therefore if you or anyone else wants to keep your Netflix package; you’ll have no choice but to pay the increase in price for the HD service.
The new price increase is just for the HD packages but don’t hold your breath because the CEO of Netflix has gone on record and admitted the prices for various packages on Netflix will gradually increase as the years pass so Netflix can fund new content.
Reed Hastings said during an investors meeting:
“Over the next decade I think we’ll be able to add more content and have more value and then price that appropriately.”
It is a nice idea if the content improves drastically over the next year. If not then there will always be another service offering something similar and for a cheaper price for people not willing to pay the gradual increases.
