Sam Smith is set to sing the new James Bond ‘Spectre’ theme song ‘Writing’s on the Wall’ for the new Bond movie due out in 2016. During the course of the year it was rumoured that Ellie Goulding would be singing the theme, due to her dropping hints on Instagram.
Having sang the theme song would have helped Ellie Goulding be recognised internationally, but Sam Smith will have the honour of singing ‘Writing’s on the Wall’ for the eventual James Bond hit ‘Spectre’.
Many people are curious to see if Sam Smith can live up to the standards Adele set with ‘Skyfall’ for the previous Bond movie. Does Sam Smith have what it takes to make a memorable Bond song that will stand the test of time? Take ‘Goldeneye’, it is remembered by everyone who loves James Bond because of the essence the song represented and the outstanding vocal quality delivered by Tina Turner.
Remember Sam Smith has a strong following and can sell albums in a time when people struggle to hit 1 million sales. So we have two established British artists performing the theme song for two back to back Bond movies and that can only be seen as a good thing.
Sam Smith will have a lot to live up to when the song ‘Writing’s on the Wall’ is officially released for the movie ‘Spectre’.
