Star Wars: The Force Awakens is smashing records faster than anything since sliced bread.
The movie has racked in over 1 billion and doesn’t appear to be stopping anytime soon and Disney are reported to be extremely happy with the acquisition of the Star Wars franchise for 4.5 billion.
The licensing of Star Wars cups, games, toys and clothes has helped Disney reach the milestone, by owning the rights to the first movie that has hit 1 billion at the box office faster than any other movie in recent memory.
One of our sources is reporting that Disney are already in motion and on track with the next Star Wars 8 movie. The hope is that Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams stays on for the next follow-up.
The main focus for Disney and Lucasfilm is having a solid storyline that will tie into the next movie and then begin working heavily on the CGI – this is the most complex part of the movie. The budget for Star Wars 8 isn’t an issue, so as long as Disney can produce a compelling movie that will rival Star Wars: The Force Awakens in terms of quality and box office sales.
The movie is still to be released in China. This is sure to break even more box office records come January 9th 2016.
